HELPFUL WORDS AND PHRASES TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION IN THE IELTS EXAM

In the IELTS Speaking and Writing Tasks, you will be asked to express your opinion about a given topic. In the essay, speaking parts 1 and 3, it is important to be able to effectively convey your thoughts by using a variety of appropriate expressions.

In this article, we are also going to discuss the possibility of expressing your lack of opinion about a certain topic without affecting your IELTS speaking score.

PHRASES TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION

Expression … Example Sentence
In my view … In my view, the quality of education in my country is getting worse as time goes by.
I feel that… I feel that my career is going on a downhill.
Personally, I think… Personally, I think that taking the course is a waste of time.

There will be an instance when you lack opinion about or completely have no idea about the examiner’s question. Don’t fret, there are ways to manage this situation. Here are helpful expressions you can use:
